Headteacher's Welcome

We hope that you enjoy visiting our website and it gives you  a good  idea of what our school is like.

At Melton we strongly believe that children learn best from being able to access a wide range of opportunities.  We endeavour to make learning a real experience, involving children in their own learning every step of the way.

The school has been recognised for its strength in the Arts – visual, music, drama.  As a school, we were awarded ‘Artsmark’ by The Arts Council in May 2012 for excellence in the Arts. Pupils’ work has been displayed in various venues including Woodbridge Library and Endeavour House in Ipswich. The children have also performed at Snape Maltings in the Celebration of Schools Music, as well as performing to a variety of groups in the local community. We work closely with several local artists using their expertise to enhance our arts provision across the school.

Our school is at the heart of the village engaging with the Church, Parish Council, businesses, residents and Care Homes. These partnerships help our children understand their place in the village. In addition we give our children the opportunity to look further afield with our link school in Uganda.

The school has a genuine open door policy which builds positive relationships between home and school. We believe this is crucial in allowing your child to succeed both academically and socially during their time with us.  We encourage all parents, both new and those with children at the school to let us know how we are doing, to tell us when things are going well, and to help us identify ways in which we can get even better.  We welcome visits from parents, existing or prospective at any point during the year.  If possible, please telephone to make an appointment.

Melton Day Nursery

Melton Day Nursery was once a maternity hospital and has since been converted into a purpose built Nursery with four classrooms each of which have large outside play space containing age appropriate equipment and resources. www.meltondaynursery.co.uk
